Birth Ritual examines the relationship between mortality and becoming. The light contained within the skull suggests the possibility that every ending simultaneously creates the conditions for something new. The work challenges the tendency to view death and birth as opposing forces, presenting them instead as interconnected aspects of a continuous process of change.
Drawing upon traditions of memento mori and vanitas painting while reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens, the piece asks viewers to consider whether impermanence should be understood as loss alone, or as an essential condition of transformation itself.
